Ethiopia Devaluates its Currency by 20 Percent

The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) announced today that it has devaluated the national currency of the country (birr) against major international currencies by about 20 percent. 
One US dollar which was equivalent to 13.62 birr will be exchanged at 16.35 Ethiopian birr as of today (September 1, 2010). The measure taken by NBE is expected to make import expensive and result in increasing prices of imported goods.

Ramadan Donation (Harari Congress)

Last year, the Harari Congress in Diaspora has raised significant fund during Ramadan and has successfully distributed on time to the needy in Harar. This year again, in continuation of this worthy and religious duty, the Congress is gearing up to work with reliable volunteer group in Harar, and, would like to extend its humble request to all Donors in Diaspora who wish to channel their Sadaqa/Fitre through. The Harari Congress is also pleased to announce encouraging working partnership with Amana Kids in Harar. In this regard, it has recently raised a generous fund of over $ 4000.00 US to benefit orphans under Amana Kids care. Furthermore, in their most recent joint meeting, both organizations have renewed their commitment to strengthen their working partnership in to the next higher level. The Congress is dedicated to take the lead in coordinating Harari resources in Diaspora, maintain to be transparent and accountable, and, is committed to continue to update the public periodically regarding its progresses and challenges. |

በሐረር ከተማ የሚገኘውን የጀጎል ግንብ ታሪካዊነትና ቅርስነቱን ጠብቆ ለማቆየት፣ የመናፈሻ ቦታዎችን የመገንባትና የማስዋብ ሥራ እየተከናወነ መሆኑ ተጠቆመ፡፡ የሐረር ከተማ ማዘጋጃ ቤት በጀጎል ግምብ ዙሪያ ሦስት የመናፈሻ ቦታዎችን በማዘጋጀት የማስዋብ ሥራ እያጠናቀቀ እንደሚገኝ ተጠቁሞ፣ አቧራማና ጭቃማ የነበረውን የጀጎል ግምብ ዙሪያና የውስጥ ለውስጥ መንገድ በኮብል ስቶን ንጣፍ መሸፈን መቻሉን የኢዜአ ዘገባ ያስረዳል፡፡ የጀጎልን ግምብ ሦስት ታሪካዊ በሮች ለማደስ ጨረታ ወጥቶ ሥራው ለኮንትራክተር መሰጠቱን ዘገባው ጠቁሞ፤ የፕሮጀክቱን 60 በመቶ ወጭ በዓለም ባንክ ቀሪው ደግሞ በክልሉ መንግሥትና በከተማ አስተዳደሩ እንደሚሸፈን ታውቋል፡
የሐረሪ ብሔራዊ ሊግ ማዕከላዊ ኮሚቴ 39ኛ መደበኛ ስብሰባውን በሀረር ከተማ አካሄደ፡፡
የሊጉ ማዕከላዊ ኮሚቴ ለ3 ቀናት ባካሄደው ስብሰባው የድርጅቱን የ2002 ዕቅድ አፈፃፀም ሪፖርት አድምጦ ከመረመረ በኋላ ከማፅደቁም በተጨማሪ በግንቦት 2002 አራተኛው አገራዊ ምርጫ የሊጉን ዕቅድ አፈፃፀም በጥልቀት ገምግሟል፡፡
