Harari state obtains over 5 mln birr from tourist

Harar, June 24 (WIC) – Some 5.1 million birr has been obtained from foreign tourist who visited Harar during the past 11 months, according to state culture, tourism and information bureau.
Bureau Tourism Development Promotion Process Owner, Abdunasir Idris, told WIC today that the revenue was obtained from 5, 486 tourists.
He said most of the tourists came from France, Spain, Britain, US, China, Japan, Australia, India as well as other European, Asian, latin American and African countries.
He said mosques, churches, markets, the historic wall of Jegol, tamed hyenas were among the attraction sites visited by the tourists.
He said the revenue earned during the past 11 months has shown a 3.3 per cent increase compared to same period last fiscal year.
According to Abdunasir, the revenue increased owing to the improvement of hotel services and activities carried out to promote tourist sites in the state.
