15th (HSCF) Harari Sport and Cultural Festival celebration is underway in the city of Toronto. This years event is hosted by Harari Heritage Center also known as HCO. Hararis from all over gathered in the city of Toronto to celebrate their 15th year sport and cultural festival The opening day was on Monday July 5th, the Picnic Family day (Ziweriqa) was held at the center island on July 7th, and Harari Day was on Thursday July 8th.

Charges Filed for Embezzling 10M Harari State Money

According the Harari TV, these charges were filed against 8 people who falsely claimed that over 10 Million Birr compensation payments were made for those residents who had been affected by Fedis Asphalt Project.

These claims, which were later proved to be bogus and false by the Harari Audit Bearu, stipulates that the compensation were made for those people whose houses were demolished, lost their investment properties, farm lands, and businesses.

Atham Abid Hashim, Director for corruption investigation office, has disclosed that formal charges have been filed against the alleged defendants and they are awaiting their court hearing. Please watch the video for full Harari TV report.

Town treats scavengers with a mix of familial respect and fear

HARAR, Ethiopia | Morgeta Olemaria whooped and giggled as he tossed slabs of raw goat meat out of the basket in his lap. About a dozen wild hyenas surrounded him, each anxious to snap up the next scrap.

The hyenas — large doglike creatures with bone-crushing sharp teeth — danced as their names were called. "It is the duty of my family," Mr. Olemaria said after a feeding one night, while the hyenas settled down for an after-dinner nap.
