New
President of Harar
October 3, 2005 (Malasay) -
HSCF invitation for community
rep
October 4, 2005
Dear: Harari Community Leaders,
Within the next few months, Hararis
in Diaspora will begin to reach a
dramatic climax preparing and organizing for their upcoming 11th annual
July event in Toronto. InshaAllah this will be another
successive and memorable annual gathering!
During this past July event in
Washington, the Harari community leaders held a Town hall meeting and discussed
ways of strengthening our annual gatherings. There was a consensus among
those gathered at the meeting that having a fair and balanced representation
of all communities, as stipulated by the original by-laws, would go a long
way towards achieving that goal.
The Harari Community of Ontario,
the Unified Washington Hararis, and the Bay Area Harari Community has already
submitted the names of their respective representatives. We kindly request
the remaining Afochas and Communities from the different cities in North
America to submit the names of their representatives as soon as possible
so that your community could be represented and have a voice in this crucial
annual gathering per the original by-laws.
Apparently, we do not like to
dwell in the past. We would like to put the past behind us, and work together
with all Hararis no matter what their stand was in regard to the disputes.
We would like to make this organization a strong, viable, transparent,
and inclusive one by going back to the original by-laws. The by laws will
be reformed as needed by following the procedures set forth in the original
by-laws, which is by the input of the communities through their board of
directors.
Therefore, we invite you to join
hands with us and move this noble-organization forward together and to
serve our people as one.
Sincerely,
Alwan Sash,
Temp Chairperson

As'salamu alaykum all... Insha'Allah
the President and Mayor of Harar will be present at the "Harari Day" celebration
on Thursday June 30th, 2005. I urge all Hararis to show their support to
our leaders by attending this crucial gathering, and discussing with them
meaningful ways of protecting Harari interest in Harar, as well as abroad.
This will be one of our most important gatherings ever. There are rumors
that are being spread by some people that the President will not be coming.
That is simply false. Allah only knows what will happen tomorrow, but I
just spoke with the mayor, Zaydan Bakri, and he assured me that there has
not been change of plans, and that they both intend to come to DC. Let's
give them a warm welcome!

Hararis In Atlanta Area Celebrated Their First
Mewlu Al-Nabi.
Atlanta, Sunday May 29, 2005. Sunday night more than 200 Hararis from
the Atlanta area gathered to celebrate Mewlu Al-Nabi. This event was the
first of its kind to be celebrated by the Atlanta Harari Community. Far
from being dreary or dull, the night was rather filled with effervescence
and exuberance. Young united with old to commemorate the birth of the beloved
Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.). Acknowledged speakers and zakirs at the Mewlu
Al-Nabi include Wahbi, Abbas Abdurahman, Emad Sherif, Fahmi, Abdurahman
Shero, Abdurahman Hassen, Salah Wazir, Abdulwazi Abdulwehab, Juneydi Abas,
Abdulwasi Yusuf, and Wahib. Harari children, namely Nurin Abdulwasi and
Enas Fahmi, also performed Harari Nebi Beqeley Zikr. By the expression
of joy on the faces of the people who attended this long awaited multi-purposeful
gathering, a majority of Hararis agree that more fervent awakenings are
much needed. The organizers would like to take this opportunity to thank
the ladies that participated in providing food for the people that attended
the Mewlid.
